Letter for work

The letter is an important document which should be complementary to value carefully as it is read in 100% of cases if your CV is accepted. It is even often a key determinant or in the case of an important post.

We must therefore prepare carefully but be careful not to make too long because it must fit on one page, no more. It is therefore necessary to choose the right words and just these words!

This letter will be read in most cases after your CV. It is therefore unnecessary to repetitions with it – which would be redundant – but cons worth mentioning everything you could not say in your CV: your goals, your ambitions, your strengths and your expectations, as should, of course, what interests you in the position and / or business.

There are three types of letter:

The cover letter for response to ad, targeted at a particular position.
The letter application for spontaneous, more open and focused instead on the company on a specific position.
The letter intended for recruitment agencies, if you have a seller may be of interest.

We must therefore take special care because it can be crippling if it is poorly written or poorly tour, even accompanied by a good CV.

Handwritten or printed?

As applications send each e-mail now, the question arises less and less and offer little further clarify this point. If the announcement specifies when even this handwritten letter, you will be required (e) send your application by post and make that extra effort to write your best pen this “chore”. Maybe for a handwriting analysis possible, but know they are expensive and are not systematic. They are generally reserved for finalists in “short list”.

The letter is always specific to a particular offer and must keep as near the imperatives of the post. After a short introductory phrase, use the plan prescribed in 4 steps. For example:

Dear,
Please kindly find my application in response to your offer of collaboration. [Hello]
I see the possibility of … [Repeat key points announced in reformulating synthetically. You]
As you can see from reading my resume … etc. … [I]
Convinced that my profile matches your expectations, I’d be very happy to meet you to further share my journey and my motivations, and consider all possible collaboration. [We]
In this perspective, please accept, Dear … etc. …

You can use some common sentences of introduction or conclusion, but beware not to “purr”. Give yourself often involved, and be creative. Only in the case of a campaign of unsolicited applications that you may need to write a generic letter. Push yourself to do this on your strengths, if a job profile.
